ELAINE TRACEY KINDLER
Elaine Tracey Kindler, 87, formerly of Forty-Fort, PA passed away on January 10, 2026 surrounded by family.
Born on August 17, 1938, in Kingston, she was the daughter of Frank and Sally P. Tracey. Elaine was a proud graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1956. She is the loving wife of 65 years to Edward P. Kindler.
Following graduation, she was employed at the First National Bank in Kingston. She later worked in the Wyoming Valley West Middle School cafeteria, where she loved connecting with the students, forming meaningful bonds, and sharing laughs with her co-workers.
Her family was the source of her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She devoted her life to raising her four children and later spent countless hours with her grandchildren. Elaine was not only the heart of her family, but she also made everyone she met feel deeply loved.
Elaine loved spending time on her front porch, chatting with all of her Sullivan Street neighbors. She enjoyed walking with friends, practicing yoga, country line dancing and participating in card club.
Along with Ed, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the former Holy Name of Jesus Parish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Jim Tracey. Elaine is survived by her husband, Edward Kindler; her children, Patty and Rick Kukosky; Kathy and Brent Berger; Phil and Kimberley Kindler; Susan and Brian Rodgers; and her grandchildren, Zachary and Samantha Berger; Abby and Jamar Thigpen; Lauren and Johnny Catlett; Emma Berger, Tracey, TJ and Corey Kindler; Jack, Andrew and Gabe Rodgers. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Diana Tracey; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Donna Kindler; and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, kindness, sense of humor, and infectious laugh, as well as her genuine love for life and for the people that surrounded her.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Prater, Home Instead, and Sacred Heart for the care our mother received during this challenging time. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional staff at The Village at Greenbriar. Their unwavering compassion, support, and love during our mother’s stay will forever be cherished by our family.
Friends may call Saturday, January 31st from 10am to Noon at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, Inc., 140 N. Main Street, Shavertown. A Memorial Service will be held near the end of visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elaine’s name to Meals on Wheels 190 South Sprague Ave, Kingston, PA 18704.
DOROTHY M. ROBERTS
Dorothy M. (Czahur) Roberts, 80, of Trucksville, passed away Friday, January 23rd, 2026 at Allied Services Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre after a long illness. Her husband and son were by her side.
Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Agnes Czahur.
Dottie, as she liked to be called, was a 1963 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School. After graduating, she completed education as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked in the intensive care unit of Wilkes-Barre's Mercy Hospital before focusing full-time on being an amazing daughter, wife, and mother.
She loved to work around the house, cooking, gardening, and decorating as well as attending craft shows, flea markets, and garage sales with the goal of surrounding herself with the cutest items that would uplift her spirits and those of all her friends and family. A loving and abiding motherly presence for her son and grandchildren, she was selfless and focused on bringing joy and happiness to those she cared for so deeply. She valued laughter, learning, imagination, and the freedom to have fun.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Surviving are her high school sweetheart and husband of 57 years, James E. Roberts, Jr.; son, James C. Roberts and beloved daughter-in-law, Amy Van Why-Roberts; and cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Rayna Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30th, 2026 at Noon at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Private interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township will follow.
Friends may call from 11am until time of service at the funeral home.
JOSEPH YOUNGBLOOD
Joseph C. Youngblood, 69, of Shavertown, entered eternal rest on January 18, 2026. He was born in Kingston on June 28,1956 to the late Joseph T. and Ruth (Cadden) Youngblood.
Joseph, known to all as Jay, graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1974.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Michael, Robert and James.
Jay is survived by daughters, Jill Youngblood, West Hollywood, CA; Jaimie Lefebvre and husband, Matt, Santa Monica, CA; his three beloved grandchildren, Grace, Violet, and Maverick, who were his pride and joy; brothers, Paul Youngblood and wife, Mary Ann, Plains Township; William Youngblood and wife, Joy, Oklahoma; nephews, William, Gary and Joseph and their respective families.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
RAYMOND JON SCHAFFER
Raymond Jon Schaffer of Dallas, PA (although he preferred to be called Jon) passed away at age eighty on January 17th, 2026. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's some years ago which ultimately led to his passing.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carole; and son Brian; two granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Hattie, and a son, Jon.
Jon served in the United States Navy with many tours of duty, most notably Vietnam.
He was a man of few words but strong convictions. After retiring from active duty, he took up a successful career as a graphic designer. He was at one point a car enthusiast who owned an MG which he loved, and was always tinkering with it. He was a huge NY Giants fan and religiously watched them anytime he could.
At the family's request a private service will be held. May God let him rest in peace.
