Obituary

Diane Mary Snyder, 86, formerly of Kingston, passed away Saturday, August 8th, 2026 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia.

Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Richards Archard.

Diane graduated from Kingston High School Class of 1958 and received her degree in education from Wilkes University, entering the teaching profession in 1964. She began her career in the Wilkes Barre Area school district and taught elementary school for most of her career in the Wyoming Valley West School District, retiring in 2001. She was a cheerleading coach for Valley West for many years, which she especially enjoyed. Diane was active in the Kingston Borough, serving on the Shade Tree Commission and the Kingston Historical Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Snyder, and sister Shelia Bonawitz, brothers in-law Robert Dixon, William Ainsworth, and Evan Bonawitz, sister in law Kelly Archard, niece Gwen Archard, and nephew Craig Ainsworth.

Surviving are her daughter Robyn Napier and husband Rick, son Colin Snyder and wife Pamela and her son Connor Stevens, granddaughter Kaitlyn Stengel and husband Alex and their daughter Reagan, granddaughter Taryn Archard Bramblett and husband Geoffrey. She is also survived by her sister Joanne Ainsworth, sister Linda Pravlick and husband Jim, brothers William Archard, and Leslie Archard and his wife Rita, several nieces and nephews.

Diane’s family would like to extend a special thank you to both Wesley Village in Pittston and Rolling Meadows in Scott Depot, West Virginia for the exceptional care they provided for Diane.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21st at 10am from Church of Christ Uniting, 190 S. Sprague Ave., Kingston. Rev. Jane M. Pykus will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Shrine Park, Wyoming. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
