Joseph R.
Reilly
d. Jul 17, 2026
Joseph R. Reilly, 73, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026.
Born in Wilkes-Barre to the late Milo and Josephine Reilly, Joe graduated from Wyoming Valley West. He built an admired career in the auto body industry, starting at Ertley and rising to Body Shop Director at Motorworld, serving as a dedicated leader and mentor to many.
In his early days, Joe loved racing his '442 at NuMedia, along with his '55 Chevy. A true outdoorsman, he cherished tending to his land, "The Farm," and was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, golfer, and bowler. His greatest role was being a father and the very best "Pop Pop." You could find him on the sidelines, where he was his grandchildren’s biggest sports fan and the loudest voice in the stands. Joe quietly spread kindness and generosity wherever he went. For over 20 years, he donated kids' bikes for the New Albany VFW Post 384 Annual Turtle Race.
Joe was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Novack, Mary Ann Farrell, and Barbara Walko; and brothers, Milo and John Reilly.
Surviving are his children, Christine and son-in-law Michael, Marianne and fiancé Christopher; lifelong best friend and partner in grandparenting, Joan; grandchildren, Gavin and Harper; sister, Kathleen; brother, Anthony; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers, donations supporting Joe’s tradition of sponsoring kids' bikes for the VFW Turtle Races may be made at the service.
